Evaluations & Exams
I have been incredibly fortunate to have Dr Jim Myers and the Gold Coast Equine team as my equine veterinarian for many years. Their expertise, compassion, and dedication to their clients, both equine and human, are truly unmatched. They’ve always gone above and beyond to provide the very best care for my horses, ensuring their health and well-being.
From routine check-ups to emergency situations, and the correct shoeing of my horses, the Gold Coast Equine team have consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of equine health and a gentle, reassuring demeanor. Their ability to explain complex medical issues in a clear and concise manner is invaluable to me as a dedicated horse owner.
I cannot recommend them highly enough, and look forward to many more years of collaboration together, they are the best!

Our Performance & Lameness Exams are comprehensive evaluations designed to detect potential sources of lameness or other performance-limiting issues impeding your horses’ natural ability to compete at its highest level of competition and live a comfortable life. At Gold Coast Equine our new client Performance & Lameness Exams may take upwards of two to four hours. Gathering the whole picture allows us to do more than just treat symptoms. We aim to get to the root of the issues and design a systematic plan for recovery and prevention of future injuries.
We also want you, the rider, to feel like you have the time to ask any questions you might have and for you to understand what is going on with your horse.
Our exams include:
- Watching your horse move in hand and on a lunge line
- Watching your horse move in dynamic and varied footing
- Flexions
- Assessing your horse under saddle
Please come prepared to ride as part of your soundness exam, and remember to bring your tack and appropriate riding attire.
