Diagnostic Imaging

Ultrasound imaging is an invaluable tool in assessing soft tissue structures in horses, including tendons, ligaments, joints, and bone surfaces, as well as internal organs in the chest (heart and lungs) and abdomen (liver, spleen, intestine). This technology allows us to detect early, subtle signs of tendon injuries and more. At Gold Coast Equine, ultrasound plays a crucial role in determining when horses with tendon and ligament injuries are ready to resume activity and in tailoring their rehabilitation protocols for optimal healing. Additionally, ultrasonography enables precise guidance in the injection of regenerative therapies directly into injured tendons and ligaments, supporting more targeted recovery.

At Gold Coast Equine, our state-of-the-art digital radiography system enhances both safety and efficiency for our equine patients by significantly reducing x-ray exposure times. Digital radiographs are immediately available for review and sharing, enabling us to perform imaging and provide a diagnosis for your horse in a single visit.

Radiographic Imaging

Equine endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate the health of a horse’s upper airway and stomach. Using a small, flexible camera, our veterinarians can directly visualize structures such as the nasal passages, throat, trachea, and lungs to diagnose respiratory conditions. For gastric endoscopy (gastroscopy), the camera is advanced into the stomach to assess issues like ulcers or mucosal damage.

This minimally invasive technique provides accurate and detailed insights, allowing for tailored treatment plans to optimize your horse’s health and performance.
